I hired Juan, above, to
drive me to the cosatal resort town of Vina del
Mar on the day after my TV show performance.
Since it iwas still winter, the town was pretty
much empty and we had the place to ourselves.
Juan had time to tell me the story of his life...
he is recently divorced and had many tales of woe
to relate. Juan was terrific. He knows everythign
about Santiago and how to get things done
quickly. |

| When I was in Santiago
twelve years ago, there were military
police everywhere with machine guns in
hand. The only soldiers I saw on this
trip were Parliament guards who looked
like toy soldiers. |
